About this book

A Book of the Riviera is a book by S. Baring-Gould. A chapter headed Toulon lists, among others, Galley slaves, The Bagne, Story of Cognard and Siege of 1793. The text says the olive flowers from April to June, and the fruit requires about six months to reach maturity. The text says oranges are said to live four or five hundred years, and that S. Dominic planted one in the garden at Sta. Sabina, at Rome, in 1200, that still flourishes.
