About this book
A Holiday in the Happy Valley with Pen and Pencil is a book by T. R. Swinburne. The opening lines add the words with 24 coloured illustrations and the year 1907. A party is welcomed by His Highness, described as a somewhat small man with exceedingly neat legs and an enormous white pugaree.
The text quotes verse that lists Prunes of Bokara, sweet nuts from the far groves of Samarcand, Basra dates and apricots. The text says one longed to reclothe these glorious skeletons with all the pomp of their dead magnificence, and pictures the wide marble floors clothed with richest carpets from the looms of Persia and the North, and the tall white columns draped with rustling canopies of silk. Ahmed Bot is of the opinion that all sahibs who wanted sport required two shikaris.
