At Whispering Pine Lodge is by Lawrence J. Leslie and is dated 1919. The contents list names, among others, chapters called The Halt on the Adirondack Carry, The Young Magician and Steve's Dream Comes True. Max says that immediately after Roland received his two thousand in cash he disappeared from the scene, and that nobody in Sagamore has ever had a peep at him from that day.
A character named Obed says, as they drew near the first enclosure where the parent foxes were confined behind the wire fencing, that he has been adding a few finishing touches to this here trap scheme. A narrator says that the sisters secluded themselves in their staterooms during the greater part of the passage and absolutely refused, although urged repeatedly, to hold communication with any person on board. The narrator says Mrs. Wyatt herself was far more agreeable, that is to say, chatty.
