About this book
Ilona Kutas wrote a short story about the 18 lingual grandfather in 77 languages and in runic script. The preface says the writer's first and until now only short story has become a device with which to make friends from all over the world.
The writer says the book was originally published in 1994 in 50 languages and that the short story was translated into an additional 27 languages in the last 6 years. The writer says that the theme of the Appendix of the first edition was changed and an essay presenting the life and work of Baron Pál Podmaniczky, professor of Lutheran theology, was placed there. The writer's husband, the text says, ran the Venice Marathon with a Danish runner, whom the writer asked to translate "The Norwegian Bible" into Danish. The writer asks the reader to write the name of numbers 1-10 and 100 in the reader's language, and some words about that language in English.
