About this book
George Chapman's Bussy D'Ambois and The Revenge of Bussy D'Ambois is edited by Frederick S. Boas and dated 1905. Its contents list a prefatory note, a biography and an introduction, then the text of Bussy D'Ambois with its sources, prologue and list of characters, five acts divided into scenes, an epilogue and notes, followed by the second play.
A passage on the life of Bussy tells of his service to the Duke of Anjou, who made him governor of Anjou. The notes explain details of the text, such as the wooden dagger carried by an Elizabethan jester, the character Pyra, who is listed among the characters but takes no part in the dialogue, and a reference to an English virgin who seems to be Annable, lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of Guise.
