About this book
The Annals of the Parish by John Galt has a narrator who says he was placed and settled as the minister of Dalmailing. The narrator says this was in the same year, and on the same day of the same month, that his Sacred Majesty King George, the third of the name, came to his crown and kingdom.
The narrator says he thought it his duty to call upon Mrs. Malcolm and offer her some assistance, but she refused, saying she could not take help from the poor's-box although it was very true that she was in great need. The narrator says it was in a visit to Edinburgh that Mrs. Balwhidder bought her silver teapot and other ornamental articles. A man named Mr. Cayenne tells the narrator that the last clause of a petition was well put and that he is easier.
