Daily stories of Pennsylvania

Daily Stories of Pennsylvania is by Frederic Antes Godcharles. A note on the text says its sections are arranged by month and day, beginning with January 1, whatever the year, and that the contents lists topics alphabetically with a date in place of a page number.

The sections sampled cover events from the province's history. One reports the Committee of Safety meeting on July 3, with Franklin unanimously chosen president and William Govett clerk. Another describes Penn's Frame of Government, dated April 25, 1682, and quotes Bancroft that its essential principles remain to this day without change. A section on James Logan lists his offices as secretary of the province, commissioner of property and of Indian affairs, member and president of Council, acting Governor and chief justice, and says he built a country home called Stenton near the Old York Road. A further section gives the first excise tax in Pennsylvania, imposed by the Assembly on March 17, 1684.
