About this book
For the Story Teller: Story Telling and Stories to Tell is by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey. The preface says the new-old art of story telling is being rediscovered. The preface says “We are learning that it is possible to educate children by means of stories.”
The text says it is to be questioned if the books of so-called dramatic stories for children which may be obtained now are really educational. The text also says the child on the stage is not developing mentally. A story names Anders, who would have dearly liked to be kissed by the princess but would not give up the cap which mother had made on any condition. The text gives jingles including “Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man” and says the appeal for the child in the case of all such jingles is a bodily, instinctive one.
