About this book

Tell Me Another Story: The Book of Story Programs is by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey. The preface says the reward of the story-teller who has successfully met the child's story interest is the plea embodied in the title of this book. According to the preface, the book consists of groups of stories arranged so that their telling will result in definite mental growth for children, as well as satisfied story hunger.

A toy soldier, who sat on a cabinet, suddenly speaks; he says he can't bear it any longer, and that the days are so dull and the evenings are still duller. The children begin the great business of making a snow image that should run about, and Violet tells Peony what to do, while with her own careful fingers she shapes all the nicer parts of the snow figure. The little dwarf, hearing that he was to dance a second time before the Infanta, was so proud that he ran about the garden, kissing the white rose in his great delight.
