About this book
The compilation is prepared for home use and classifies children's books according to the age of the child rather than the school grade. The preface stresses that children's capacities differ so greatly that the arrangement by age should be understood as only approximate.
The entry for The Queen of Hearts describes pictures whose color and design suggest those found on playing cards. A review of a book about painters describes sketches of eighteen Italian artists, based on Vasari, with color and black and white reproductions. The compiler explains that the art book is intended to convey some information handed down by Vasari rather than take the place of a history of art.
