Gospel Themes is a 1914 doctrinal work by Orson F. Whitney (1855-1931), apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, prepared as a study text on the principles of the restored gospel. The book treats the standard themes of Latter-day Saint theology: faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, the apostasy and restoration, priesthood, and the plan of salvation, organised for class use in the church’s educational programmes. Whitney brought to the assignment the literary polish that distinguished all his writing; he was the church’s most accomplished man of letters, author of the epic Elias and the four-volume History of Utah. Gospel Themes served for years as a manual in church instruction and documents the systematisation of Latter-day Saint teaching in the early twentieth century. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
