About this book
This volume holds Books III and IV of Procopius's History of the Wars, in H. B. Dewing's English translation, first printed in 1916. The contents give Book III as the Vandalic War and Book IV as its continuation, followed by an index. Book III begins by saying that it will set out what the Emperor Justinian did against the Vandals and the Moors, after first telling whence the host of the Vandals came.
In one passage, two Roman generals, Aetius and Boniface, are called especially valiant men, and Placidia appoints Boniface general of all Libya, which does not please Aetius, though he does not show it. In another, the Moors stand on foot between the legs of their camels with shields, swords and small spears, and Solomon draws up his whole army against the remainder of the circle.
