About this book
How Lisa Loved the King is a work by George Eliot. The text places its story six hundred years ago, when Palermo town kept holiday. A character named Lisa is called the child of Bernardo, a rich Florentine who came to trade in drugs.
In all eyes, King Pedro was the king of cavaliers. Lines addressed to Love include the words 'O tell him I am waiting for my Death'. A betrothal was made between Perdicone, called youthful, brave and well-born, and Lisa, whom he loved. The king, who knew the youth was poor, gave him rich Ceffalù and Cataletta, described as large and fruitful lands.
