About this book
How to Do It is by Edward Everett Hale. The contents list names, among others, How To Go Into Society, How To Travel, Life At School, Life In Vacation, and Life Alone. The text says that the papers which are here collected enter in some detail into the success and failure of a large number of young people of the writer's acquaintance.
The writer connects part of his acquaintance with the Sunday school of the Church of the Unity in Worcester, and says that the first time he ever preached in that church, namely, May 3, 1846, there was but one person in it who had gray hair. The writer says the first meeting of the Sunday school showed, he thinks, thirty-six children, and more of them were under nine than over. The text says that Dr. Bowditch translated the great Mécanique Céleste in less than two hours' daily labor.
