About this book
If: A Play in Four Acts is a play in four acts by Lord Dunsany. The list of characters includes John Beal, Mary Beal, Liza, Miralda Clement and Archie Beal, among others. Scene 1 of Act I is set at a small railway station near London, with the time given as ten years ago, and Bert and Bill are listed as two railway porters.
In one scene Mary says that Liza was dusting the photographs and that a bit of glass is broken right out of one of them. In another scene John Beal says he is afraid he hardly expected Miralda, who asks Didn't you? In a further scene John says he has lost everything, and when Liza asks how he lost it, he answers Through being blind.
