About this book

Minna Von Barnhelm, or The Soldier's Fortune, is by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, translated by Ernest Bell. The introductory note says Gotthold Ephraim Lessing was born at Kamenz, Germany, January 22, 1729, the son of a Lutheran minister.

A speaker labelled JUST says "No, enough is as good as a feast!" and tells the landlord it is a shame to turn out of his room, in his absence, a man like his master, who "has lodged at your house above a year". A speaker labelled LAND says "But suppose I really wanted the room and saw beforehand that the Major would willingly have given it up if we could only have waited some time for his return!" A speaker labelled MAJ. T. says "I will not be your debtor", and a speaker labelled WER says "At first, it was not proper; now, you will not." A speaker labelled MIN. says "Be not alarmed, Tellheim!... I shall not be quite unprotected, if I must decline the honour of your protection."
