About this book
Invasion is credited to Murray Leinster, and a line under the title says the whole fighting fleet of the United Nations is caught in Kreynborg's marvelous, unique trap. The story gives its date as August 19, 2037, when the United Nations was just fifty years old. Thorn Hard is a high-level flier for the Pacific Watch.
A call to all Watch planes reports extreme high-level traffic on the seven-ten line, bound due east at a speed over one thousand. Kreynborg is using a pocket-gun, one of those small terrible weapons which shoot a projectile barely larger than the graphite of a lead pencil, loaded with a fraction of a milligram of hexynitrate. Kreynborg says blandly that the only weapon they have to use is the normal metabolism of the human system, which he names as hunger.
