Earth Needs A Killer is credited to Bryce Walton. A speaker tells Ray Berton he is the man they need, and says that those they are fighting are insane, irrational, and will destroy humanity if they are not stopped. A first-person narrator says he knew he had hit a man too hard as soon as the man stretched on the bright green stones of Jelahn's tavern, and that the man did not try to get up. The narrator says he was born in the asteroids, with a father who was a prospector, and that he was a prospector too.
A character named Reeta says that Glora is her sister and that she has been wondering if they would send someone through. Reeta turns and leads the narrator through a wall of fern branches and onto a different path. The narrator says he fired the gun point blank into Durach's chest, then moved it around over the others, and that there was blinding white light.
