Klondyke Nuggets

Klondyke Nuggets is a first-hand account of the Klondike gold rush by Joseph Ladue (1855-1901), the American-born trader and prospector who founded the town of Dawson City in the Yukon Territory in 1896 at the start of the rush. Ladue ran trading posts along the Yukon River and was at the junction of the Klondike and Yukon rivers when the discovery on Bonanza Creek touched off the great rush of 1896 to 1899. He laid out Dawson City on his own land claim and made and lost a fortune in the boom. The book is his contemporary account of the geography, the routes in, the discoveries on Bonanza and Eldorado Creeks, the conditions of the camps, and the practical advice for would-be prospectors.
