About this book
The collection gathers legends connected with figures whose histories appear in the Old Testament, while the preface expressly warns that the selection is not exhaustive. The compiler says that including every legend was impossible and expresses the hope that few of particular interest have been left out.
The Simorg is described as a wondrous bird that speaks all languages and is eminently religious. The story of Tahmourath tells of assistance to the Peris in their war with the Jins after the bird transports him to the mountains of Kaf. The account of Adam and Eve describes a serpent that attributes its degradation to them and attacks them in anger.
