About this book
Memoirs of Bertha von Suttner is presented as an authorized translation of The Records of an Eventful Life, identified as Volume I. A section headed The Austrian Interparliamentary Group Is Formed records a return from Venice to Harmannsdorf and a stay of a few days in Vienna. Personal recollections describe a drive to look at house-furnishing goods, carriages and gowns, and a visit to see a villa intended as a nuptial gift.
A reproduced appeal announces an Austrian section of the International Peace and Arbitration Association and describes its intention to become a regular legal society with a constitution submitted to the authorities. The appeal states that the Association is not to be political, describing the furtherance of durable peace among nations as a purely humanitarian object.
