About this book
Myths and Folk-tales of the Russians, Western Slavs, and Magyars is by Jeremiah Curtin. Uncle Katoma tests a well by throwing a dry branch toward the water, and the branch puts out buds, turns green and blossoms before reaching it. The blind man moistens his eyes with the water and gains sight, while the footless man's feet grow when he is lowered into the water.
A man seeking help to reach home encounters a hermit named Wind, who says he lacks the strength and directs the traveller to his strongest brother. The eldest Wind brother says he must ask the Lord how strongly Wind may blow before determining whether the man can reach home. A princess afraid of death promises to speak as commanded and swears by everything sacred.
