About this book
Princess Polly At Play is by Amy Brooks, who is named on the title page as author of several other Princess Polly books. The contents list twelve chapters, among them Polly, Rose and Gwen, Little Sea Nymphs, A Wedding at Cliffmore, The Ship Comes In and Max a Stowaway.
The first chapter, Polly, Rose and Gwen, opens with Princess Polly and Rose Atherton thinking of little else than a summer at Cliffmore. In another passage the two girls talk about Gwen Harcourt, who they say likes to behave badly, and they plan to travel part of the way by rail and then on Captain Atherton's yacht. Gwen has made up her mind that she wants to go to Cliffmore too. In a third passage, Captain Atherton praises a boy named Gyp for the work he has done on the lawn, the vines and the flowers.
