About this book
Project Hush is by William Tenn, and its opening blurb says "The biggest job in history and it had to be done with complete secrecy." The narrator is satisfied with the security measures on the assignment except one, the official Army designation "Project Hush". Everyone on the project had to report to Psycho a couple of times a week for "dream detailing and hypnoanalysis", instead of the usual monthly visit.
The narrator says Project Hush was set up to counter the new weapons, and that the Moon had already been reached on 24 June 1967 with an unmanned ship that carried instruments. The narrator suggests sitting in the dome at one end of a telephone hookup with Tom, who will sit in the ship, hand over the firing button, ready to blast off for Earth. Monroe tells Ben, "They aren't extraterrestrials in the other dome," and says they are human, all right, and from Earth.
