About this book
Psychotherapy is a medical book by James J. Walsh. The transcriber's notes say it comes from a copy on the Internet Archive, and that it illustrates the general state of medicine in 1910.
In one passage the author writes about quinine, which was long used as a remedy for fevers and colds, and says the suggestive value of a remedy may help a patient. Another passage covers after-treatment, noting that measles and whooping cough can leave the lungs weak and that scarlet fever can affect the kidneys. A late passage tells of an old gentleman sent south for the winter with a ban on any mental work, who put away an historical work he had planned to revise and did not get well.
