Ringworld

Ringworld by Larry Niven won the Hugo and Nebula in 1970 and is one of the foundational big concept science fiction novels. Four explorers travel to investigate a ribbon shaped megastructure orbiting a distant star. Niven loves engineering details and they are all here. Some of the cultural elements have aged poorly but the central idea is still mind expanding.
