About this book

Rollo on the Atlantic is by Jacob Abbott, and its preface offers readers of the Rollo Books a continuation of the history of our little hero. The preface says the adventures are those that such a boy may be supposed to meet with in making a tour in Europe, and that the books are intended to be books of instruction rather than of mere amusement.

Jane has a mottled kitten that she calls her tiger and puts it in a canary birdcage, taking the precaution never to keep it shut up long at a time. Uncle George arrives with a letter that Rollo believes is from mother, and Mr. George asks Rollo how he should like to go to England. Jennie goes down into the cabin to shut up her kitten, because the sight of a bird reminds her of Tiger. The captain says that there is nothing to go ashore till this tug goes.
