About this book
Sunny Boy in the Big City is by Ramy Allison White, who also wrote Sunny Boy in the Country and Sunny Boy at the Seashore. The contents list chapters called The Parade, Oliver's Lesson, Off for New York, Going Shopping, Sunny Boy Loses His Room, On Top of the Bus and In Central Park. In one scene Sunny Boy explains that Ruth is taking the place of a private who didn't want to do his duty. A woman wonders if Sunny Boy's army would like some nice ice-cold lemonade, and Sunny Boy suggests he can march them in the basement door.
As the ferryboat draws near the New York side, Sunny Boy sees the sky line, which is famous all over the world, the outline made by the tall buildings against the sky. A chapter headed Home Again says Mrs. Horton did their packing and the trunk was sent early to the station.
