About this book
Tales from Two Hemispheres is credited to Hjalmar Hjorth Boyesen, and its contents list stories titled The Man Who Lost His Name, The Story of an Outcast, A Scientific Vagabond and Truls, the Nameless. In the story The Man Who Lost His Name, a young Norseman, Halfdan Bjerk by name, lands on the pier at Castle Garden, where he is asked his name, birthplace, and how much money he had. One scene has a character picture his dear native land, where the great mountains loomed up in serene majesty toward the blue sky.
A gruff voice shouts "Get up, you sleepy dog", and a Herculean policeman lifts a stout stick over his head. One scene shows a woman who goes on with her work while talking with a man in a half sisterly fashion about his studies and his future career. A character named Lage welcomes a visitor, saying you are welcome to stay here with us as long as you choose, and cannot but attribute to Vigfusson the merit of having kept Aasa at home a whole day.
