About this book
The Book of Common Prayer is credited to the Episcopal Church in Scotland and sets out the administration of the sacraments and other rites and ceremonies of the church. The title lists the Psalter, or psalms of David pointed as they are to be sung or said in churches. A calendar with a table of lessons marks the days of January, including the Circumcision of our Lord and the Epiphany of our Lord.
One direction says that when there is a Communion, the Priest shall then place upon the Table so much Bread and Wine as he shall think sufficient. A further rubric names the Deacons, Church-wardens, or other fit person appointed to receive the Alms for the Poor. The book also holds the form or manner of making, ordaining and consecrating bishops, priests and deacons, with a collect for servants now called to the office of Priesthood.
