About this book
The Cities of Refuge: Or, The Name of Jesus is by John R. Macduff. The opening note, addressed to My Dear Young Friends, says the little book contains, with a few additions, the substance of what was spoken one Sabbath to a number of hearers of your own age. The text says it sometimes happened, in the land of Canaan, that a Hebrew, without any evil purpose, would cause the death of a brother Hebrew. The text says that the only chance of safety for one who wished to escape with his life was to flee to one of these Refuge-cities.
The text calls Jesus the true Gospel Refuge, full of rich provision, and names as some of these provisions pardon, peace, justification, adoption and sanctification. A question put to the reader asks whether he or she has fled to this Living Rock of Ages.
