About this book
John Werge wrote The Evolution of Photography. The full title promises a chronological record of discoveries, inventions, etc., contributions to photographic literature, and personal reminiscences extending over forty years. The text says M. Niépce named these results of his researches Heliography.
The text says that in December, 1829, the two French investigators joined issue by executing a deed of co-partnery, in which they agreed to prosecute their researches in future in mutual confidence and for their joint advantage. After dark, the text says, the party went into the ladies' cabin, where an impromptu concert was soon formed, and a few very good pieces of music were well played and sung. The text says even the hangers of the Royal Academy do not escape censure, and are supposed to have far more skill, taste, and experience in hanging than the volunteer hangers of the late photographic exhibition.
