The Form of Perfect Living and Other Prose Treatises is by Richard Rolle of Hampole, who lived about 1300 to 1349. This edition is rendered into modern English by Geraldine E. Hodgson and was published in London in 1910. The preface says the book is meant for readers who care for religious and devotional thought rather than for those who know Anglo-Saxon and Middle English.
It carries an epigraph on love taken from the Form of Perfect Living, chapter ten. The preface adds that the shorter form of On Grace and the Epistle are included. In one passage, a man carried along by water is compared to people passing through this life with its goods, and Scripture is quoted that all flesh is grass. Another passage addresses a sinner about a life wasted in sin.
