The Fulfilment of a Dream of Pastor Hsi's

The Fulfilment of a Dream of Pastor Hsi's is the story of the work in Hwochow by A. Mildred Cable of the China Inland Mission. The introduction says that on 19th February 1896 Pastor Hsi, to quote the words of his biographer, was translated to higher service. The text says that through intense suffering Mr. Hsi had freed himself from the craving for opium, that through the agency of a dream a system of treatment was revealed to him, and that he prepared the medicine which proved successful beyond his highest expectations.

The text says the inhabitants of Shansi had tasted the full terrors of famine, of typhus, and of the raids of wild beasts. The text says the shrine was instantly destroyed, and Mrs. Hsi was free of the tormenting spirit, and shortly afterwards openly confessed Christ. After a time, men who had been delivered from the opium vice and led to Christ through the Refuges were gathered into a home he called the Middle Eden and trained for the work.
