The Gate of the Giant Scissors is an 1898 children’s book by Annie Fellows Johnston (1863-1931), the American author best known for the hugely popular Little Colonel series. Set partly in France, the story carries the warm sentiment and moral lessons that made Johnston a favourite of young readers around the turn of the century. Her books sold in the millions and inspired a 1935 Shirley Temple film. The tale is a charming example of Victorian-Edwardian children’s fiction. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
