About this book

The Gospel of Mark for Readers is credited to Lightheart. The text speaks of the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and of John, who did baptize in the wilderness and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Simon's wife's mother lay sick with a fever; they told Jesus about her, He took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her immediately.

A leper says "If thou wilt, thou can make me clean," and Jesus, moved with compassion, puts out His hand, touches him, and says "I will. Be thou clean." Jesus asks the father when this came upon the son, and the man answers "As a child," and says it has often cast him into the fire and into the water to destroy him. The father of the child cries out with tears flowing "Lord, I believe. Help thou my unbelief." The text says the superscription of His accusation was written and hung over Him, and gives it as "The King of the Jews."
