About this book

The Grand Canyon of Arizona: How to See It is a book by George Wharton James. The preface to the revised edition says that because of the completion of a new driveway along the Rim of the Grand Canyon and a new trail to the Colorado River, a second edition is deemed necessary. The preface names Hermit Rim Road and Hermit Trail, the first said to be the most unique road in the world and nine miles long on the brink of the Canyon, the other a wide and safe pathway down the south wall.

The writer disagrees with a certain university president who said that it impressed him with its infinite laziness, answering with the question Lazy? and with twelve thousand feet of strata. A section headed Navaho Women's Costume says the women wear a brown, green, or red velvet shirt. The writer says he can safely promise, nine times out of ten, pleasanter weather than you would find if at home.
