The Ladies' Knitting and Netting Book, by Miss Watts, is marked as the second series and a second edition. The contents list, among others, Gentlemen's Knitted Gloves, Netted ditto, Feather ditto and Plain open Mittens. The directions for netted gloves call for a mesh of No. 14, fine netting silk and a round foundation of 50 stitches.
The feather gloves need four needles No. 19 and very fine cotton. To make up a small muff, the book says you must buy 5-8ths of gros-de-naples, 1½ oz. of fine carded wool and 1 oz. of fine horse-hair. A further muff is made with two needles No. 10 and 3 skeins of coarse fleecy.
