About this book

The Melting of Molly is by Maria Thompson Daviess, illustrated by R. M. Crosby. The contents list leaves from the book of Molly, headed The Bachelor's-Buttons and A Love-Letter, Loaded, among others. Doctor John suddenly tells Molly to stop crying this minute and adds that he was only teasing.

Someone says to Mrs. Molly that the record is wanted now and that it seems she is about as slim as she wants to be. A first-person writer describes a dream of taking a bath in a glass of ice-cream soda-water and trying to hide from Doctor John behind the dab of ice-cream that seemed inadequate for food or protection. A first-person voice thinks it would be a good thing just to let Aunt Bettie blindfold every unmarried person in this town and marry them to the first person they touch hands with.
