Cut off from the society she knew, she meets isolation, hard weather, and the daily grind of frontier life with humor and stubborn spirit, recording her marriage's small joys and real strains as she goes. Stringer captures both the beauty and the loneliness of the open plains, and his heroine's frank, funny voice keeps the pages turning. It became the first book of a popular trilogy about her life. Arthur Stringer was a Canadian novelist, poet, and screenwriter whose fiction moved between crime stories and prairie life. Never-fail Blake, historically printed as Never-Fail Blake and also published as The Shadow, follows a determined detective through an international pursuit.
