About this book
The Return of Tharn by Howard Browne is introduced with the line that when Tharn set out to rescue his beloved Dylara, he did not dream the whole Cro-Magnon world opposed him. A youthful member of the tribe of Gerdak named Trakor moves at a swinging trot along a winding game trail that led to the caves of his people. Trakor is far from convinced that Tharn is telling the truth, saying, No, you are a god, while Tharn says, I am no god. I am Tharn, a man of the caves, like you.
Jotan says that for three suns, we searched the jungle for a sign of her, and Tharn answers, If she is still alive I will find her. Tharn asks how many men are likely to be defending Vokal's palace, and Jotan answers, No less than five hundred.
