About this book
Joseph Bates wrote The Seventh Day Sabbath, a Perpetual Sign. A prefatory note challenges the Christian world to show, from the Bible, where the writers have taken a wrong view of the seventh day Sabbath. A prefatory note says the two covenants made with man in this state of mortality are first delivered by God to Moses, the second or new by Jesus Christ and his disciples.
The main text poses a first question: when was the Sabbath instituted? The text takes issue with a President, asking what he meant by quoting Gen. ii: 3 so often if he could not see the sanctification of the seventh day in the decalogue. The text cites Micah on the Judge of Israel who is to be the ruler in Israel, and says Jesus never was a judge nor ruler in Israel.
