About this book
A Vindication of the Seventh-Day Sabbath and the Commandments of God, by Joseph Bates, is described as coming with a further history of God's Peculiar People, from 1847 to 1848. The book carries a numbered rhyme that includes the lines No God but me thou shalt adore and My sacred Sabbath don't profane. The contents list names, among others, The Sabbath Controversy, Barnabas Against The Sabbath and The Beginning Of The Sabbath.
The text says the fourth commandment is not abolished and never has undergone any change more than the other nine, and that there is no other weekly sabbath recorded or intimated in the old and new testaments. The text says the paschal lamb was slain on the 14th day of the first month, and the handful of the first fruits of the harvest was waved before the Lord on the 16th of the first month. The text says that those who reject the messages are the false ones.
