About this book

Few writers ranged as widely as Fritz Leiber, and this collection gathers the shorter work that made his name across the pulp magazines and beyond. Here are tales of science fiction set among the stars and the ruins of Earth, ghost stories dragged into the modern city, and the wry, muscular adventure fiction that helped invent sword and sorcery. Leiber wrote with a stylist's ear and a theatrical sense of pace, whether he was staging a haunting, a first meeting with the unknown, or a swordfight in a decaying metropolis. Read together, these stories show a restless imagination that refused to sit still inside any single genre. The collection is available here as a free PDF and EPUB edition.

About the author

Fritz Leiber

Fritz Leiber (1910-1992) was an American author who moved fluidly among science fiction, fantasy, and horror. He created the roguish duo Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser and coined the term sword and sorcery, while his modern supernatural tales helped shape urban horror. He won multiple Hugo and Nebula awards.
