About this book

The Tale of the Argonauts is credited to Rhodius Apollonius. The book is translated into English verse by Arthur S. Way.

The verse sings of the heroes of old, who sped at the hest of Pelias the king, and of the strong-ribbed Argo flying on the Quest of the Fleece of Gold. A speaker tells a stranger that he will give the Fleece of Gold to bear away, if the stranger wishes, when he has first tried him, and says he has two brazen-footed bulls that pasture on the War-god’s plain. A passage describes a man who, praying, severs the throat of the victim and casts it from the stern into the waves.
