The Voyages of Pedro Fernandez de Quiros, 1595-1606

The Voyages of Pedro Fernandez de Quiros records the Pacific explorations of the Portuguese navigator Pedro Fernandes de Queirós (1565-1614), who sailed in Spanish service in search of the great southern continent. Translated for the Hakluyt Society by Clements Markham, the volumes recount his discovery of the New Hebrides, which he named for the Holy Spirit, believing he had found the southern land.
