About this book
The Way of Initiation bears the subtitle Or, How to Attain Knowledge of the Higher Worlds and announces biographical notes about the author. The exercise concerning a grain of seed asks the practitioner to picture clearly the complex plant that the seed will become if planted in soil. The exercise directs the practitioner to build the plant in imagination and reflect on its future physical existence through the forces of earth and light.
The comparison with an artificial object considers an imitation so close that human eyesight could detect no external difference, yet incapable of producing a plant through those natural forces. The exercise presents the idea that whatever will grow from the seed already lies secretly enfolded within the seed as a force.
