About this book
Things To Make is by Archibald Williams and is full of figures. A transcriber's note recommends the PDF or RTF versions, observes that some projects involve corrosive or explosive chemicals, electricity and steam boilers, and warns against lead solder on cooking utensils.
One passage builds a ten-drawer cabinet: fitting the runners, cutting the top and bottom, using the top of a sweetstuff box for the back, turning brass wire into drop handles, and keeping the cost to about eighteen pence. Another covers box kites, including the diamond-shaped type used by Mr. W. H. Dines for meteorological experiments, carrying registering instruments into the air. A third describes a washstand top fitted with a tray of lead or zinc for developing.
