About this book
Instruction Book on Ring Spinning is by Francis L. Lincoln. The preface says that the object of this little book is to give help and instruction to those who are engaged in this department of mill work. The preface adds that the book has been carefully prepared by an experienced Spinner, who has given years of study to it.
The contents list names topics such as, among others, How to pack Yarn closely on the Bobbin, About Spindles, Rings, and Steel Rolls, and How to avoid making lap waste in spinning room. A section called Changing Numbers advises that when you change from one number to another you should see that the motion runs right to pack the yarn closely on the bobbin, then have your travelers just heavy enough to keep the ends straight. A section called Poor Cotton says that when cotton is poor you may need a little more twist in the yarn.
