About this book
Time and Time Again is by H. Beam Piper. The text says that to upset the stable, mighty stream of time would probably take an enormous concentration of energy. A man, blinded by the bomb-flash and numbed by the narcotic injection, could not estimate the extent of his injuries, but knew that he was dying.
The text recalls a time when a man had been little Allan Hartley, a schoolboy, the son of a successful lawyer, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Blake Hartley demands to know, "Did you load the chamber?" Gutchall puts the Luger in his hip pocket, makes sure it won't fall out, and takes his departure. The text says Allan sighed and that the masquerade was over.
